Low Back Pain Due to Spinal Stenosis
Spinal stenosis basically means that an opening is not as big as it should be in your spine. This can be quite a painful event. The primary locations for stenosis is going to be the spinal canal and the intervertebral foramen. The spinal canal is easy to understand when something is taking up too much space it can prevent the normal neural transmissions from the peripheral nerves to the brain and back. If the intervertebral foramen is stenotic this is often called a pinched nerve. This too is a painful event and can block nerve transmission between the periphery and the brain. The Back Pain Project help people who have spinal stenosis with the following therapies;
2- Hako-Med Electroceutical Medicine
5- Home Exercises
If there is pressure from a herniated or bulging disc this can cause the intervertebral foramen or spinal canal to be smaller or stenotic. If there are free floating fragments from the disc floating around in the canal this is another potential cause of spinal stenosis. Back pain due to spinal stenosis often needs to be diagnosed with MRI studies.
Arthritis causing spinal stenosis
Degenerative Joint Disease also called arthritis is a major player in spinal pain due to spinal stenosis. Arthritis causes the bones to wear away as well as to decrease the disc height. This long axis pull creates vertical tension due to gravity onto the opening. Think about it this way. Someone gets old and gains weight. Then they wear a shirt that used to fit but it is too tight around the middle and around the neck. There is less space on the openings. So we would say that the person is fat. If you wanted to be polite you could say the neck and the middle was stenotic.
Sometimes surgery is required to decrease pressure on the spine and nerves that is caused by stenosis. The Back Pain Project relies on spinal decompression to relieve tension and pain caused by spinal stenosis. It depends on the severity of the spinal stenosis and the age of the person suffering. We have found that Class IV Cold Laser is helpful in mitigating pain associated with spinal stenosis. The Back Pain Project was developed to help people with chronic lower back pain regain the quality of their lives. We can be reached at 203-656-3638.
